Now, I know there are quite a few avid game memorabilia collectors out there, so if your one of them then here’s come news that may just tickle your fancy. Two new collectable Tank figures, from the game Left for Dead 2, are about to be released from Gaming Heads. Both are 15 inch tall replicas of everyone’s favourite infected however the ‘exclusive’ edition comes with a scale edition of the pump shotgun! How awesome is that?

Below are pictures of the models:

Now on to the most important part, the pricing. The standard Tank statue is available for $299.99 and the exclusive version, with the shotgun, comes in at $324.99. I suppose you get what you pay for. These models are incredibly high quality and are limited to 750 units (standard edition) and 300 units (exclusive edition).

Fans of Linkin Park will be excited to hear that the band’s new single “The Catalyst” from their new album “A Thousand Suns” will not only be the headline song in the game’s soundtrack, but will also offer fans a chance to hear a sneaky advance listen to part of the song on the games trailer which airs the day before the single releases. The games trailer has been directed by Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn and is a mixture of live footage and battle scenes from the game.

“Medal of Honor marks the beginning of an innovative new relationship between EA and Linkin Park,” said Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive, Music and Music Marketing, EA. “I’ve personally known the band since 1999, and they have always been an intensely creative group who understand the power of videogames and have wanted to explore and expand the medium’s possibilities. ‘The Catalyst’ is one of the most anticipated tracks of the year, and the combination of this new song and Joe Hahn’s distinctive visual dynamic re-sets the bar in our commitment to bringing together landmark EA games with artists whose talents go far beyond music.”

“This is a unique, creative association for us and a collaboration that we are excited about,” said Joe Hahn, trailer director and DJ for Linkin Park. “The opportunity to help introduce “The Catalyst” via the new Medal of Honor game creates a new bond between EA, our fans, and the band’s overall vision for the new digital frontier. We are enormously proud of the music on A Thousand Suns and are excited to have created an exclusive trailer around the lead track.”

The trailer for the game will be avaliable on 1st August, while ‘The Catalyst’ single will be released on the 2nd.

Despite having a playable demo at Comic-Con news has arrived that Zipper are delaying the release of SOCOM 4 on the PS3 until next year.

Its not clear how much pressure Sony is putting on developers to include Move controls in their games, as we get closer to the launch we can certainly anticipate regular PS3 firmware updates and game patches.

Delaying an entire title is not a minor decision and hopefully not a sign of Move compatibility Move(ing) more game releases.

From their blog:

Dear SOCOM faithful,
Some of you may have heard through your favorite media outlets that SOCOM 4 is now a 2011 title, and we are writing this letter to you, our community, to confirm that SOCOM 4 is indeed scheduled for release in 2011.

While we’re certainly aware that you’ve been looking forward to playing SOCOM 4 this year, we don’t want to take any shortcuts. Instead, we want to deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game we possibly can and we’re going to use our extra time to do just that.

Over the coming months, you can expect further updates on our 2011 release, in addition to other gameplay and feature announcements on the official SOCOM 4 blog, which can be found at blog.socom.com.

On behalf of everyone here at Zipper Interactive, we want to thank you for being patient and thank you for sticking with us — it will be worth the wait.

Sincerely,

The SOCOM 4 Team

It has been reported by Bloomberg of Japan that the price and release date for the 3DS will be on the 29th of September. It is not clear whether this information will be specific to Japan or will include details for the consoles worldwide release. However, more details may be released at the end of year conferences held by Nintendo of Japan and America.

A UK spokesperson has said the console will fit the current DS pricing structure. The DSi currents retails at £129, the DSi XL at £159, so it seems likely the 3DS will market at around £180 – £210. Analysts have previously predicted a sale price of $250, which is around £160, and Europe normally has to pay more than the US so this prediction is somewhat accurate.

I am unlikely to pick the 3DS up on launch because I would want to wait and see what games are released on its first. However, it may now be a good idea to wait and see if the price drops. If anyone plans on getting the 3ds on, has the suggested pricing changed your mind at all, or do you still plan to get it on launch day? Is anyone else going to wait for a while after the console launches and then consider buying it?

Hot on the heels of Microsoft’s Kinect pricing causing quite a stir (in a bad way), Sony have assured us that “PlayStation Move controllers will be cheaper to buy in the UK than we had expected.”

“One PlayStation Move controller costs £34.99, one PlayStation Eye camera costs £24.99 and one PlayStation sub-controller costs £24.99.

Note that you do not need the sub-controller to play most Move games, and the DualShock 3 pad can substitute for it.

The Move controller and Eye will be bundled in a PlayStation Move Pack for £49.99. This also contains a Starter Disc, which offers an instructional set-up video plus playable demos for Sports Champions, Start the Party!, The Shoot, EyePet: Move Edition, TV Superstars, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, echochrome II, Tumble and Beat Sketchers.”

It’s an age old question, who would win in a fight? A Spartan or a Samurai? An Apache or a Ninja? Ghandi or the Pope? Ok, the last one is yet to be tested, but the rest all have answers courtesy of Deadliest Warrior. In Deadliest Warrior: The Game you play as one of 8 ancient warriors (The Apache, Ninja, Roman centurion, Pirate, Spartan, Samurai, Viking and Knight) and fight to the death against another one of the warriors. If you’re familiar with the TV show then you will know that it is awesome and luckily the game captures this.

Deadliest Warrior: The Game is a download only title. Naturally this limits the amount of content that is in the game, cutting down on warrior numbers and game modes. The singleplayer may be seen as pretty limited as the only really worth while game mode is Arcade mode. Arcade mode sets you up against each and every warrior in turn, until eventually you become the ultimate (or deadliest) warrior. A couple of quick-timed challenges also feature during the mode. the primary reason of playing this mode this is purely to get cool new weapons and armour for your warriors. Other singleplayer game types actually seem rather pointless as nothing is really achieved, and the bulk of the gameplay (after everything is unlocked) is multiplayer. Multiplayer is essentially a fight to the death between you and some other guy over a set amount of rounds. There is something worryingly satisfying about brutally finishing off you opponent whilst imagining the pure rage that is seeping through their body. And it’s this feeling that keeps you coming back for more. Granted it can be seen as awfully repetitive, but there’s something about watching a Viking warrior decapitate a Roman centurion with one swift spear throw that is oddly captivating.

Each warrior has a total of 6 weapons at their disposal. 2 short-range weapons, 2 mid-range and 2 projectile weapons. Obviously, weapons vary hugely from warrior to warrior, and choosing the right weapon for the job becomes incredibly important in order to succeed. What I have noticed however, is that some characters have weapons that are so unbelievably easy to spam attacks with an ultimately with. Let me give you an example. The ninja, that crafty bastard, has a ball and scythe weapon (the name escapes me) that has such ridiculous power and range that no matter what warrior he is against he will no doubt kill, if he gets a combo going. On top of this there are certain ‘special moves’ that warriors can use. These vary from the devastating (if hit) grenado of the pirate, to a blinding black-egg attack of the bloody ninja. These moves can be temperamental in terms of actually hitting the opponent, but again they can often be spammed over and over again to great effect (and annoyance). Now these grievances aren’t huge, and no doubt will be fixed, but for now the game has a slight unbalanced quality about it that some players could find very frustrating.

So deadliest warriors isn’t a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. Work around the minor annoyances and get into the groove of the character moves and you actually have a pretty decent fighting simulation. Graphics are good and there is gore galore, which is always nice! Now, i’m not going to tell you to get your arses online and go download it, but at least give it a shot. You may find yourself like me, spending hours trawling through games, getting ever more addicted to slashing and hacking limbs of angry opponents. Viking FTW

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Earlier this week, we reported that it will only be the Gold Edition of Resident Evil 5 that will be getting Move support. Apparently, it’s not because Capcom wants us to buy the more expensive Gold Edition. There really is a technical reason behind it.

It turns out there is a technical explanation; For the game to support PlayStation Move it requires certain resources from the PS3 and this case the problem is lack of memory space.

When the original version of Resident Evil 5 was developed the team were unaware of Move so used all the memory for the game. When Capcom got their hands on Move they recoded the game to free up resources for the Gold Edition, hence that version can be patched.

Well, that makes me feel a little better…
